The loss of a pet is an incredibly painful thing to experience. People who have never formed strong attachments to pets can find it difficult to understand. But some have had their beloved pet in their life for as long as they can remember. When they die, it can be like losing a best friend. It’s understandable if you want to find a way to memorialize them, to honor the role they played in your life and remind you of how much you loved them. You can do this in several different ways, whether you want something to wear or display. If you would like to commemorate your deceased pet, consider one of the following ideas.
Have a Portrait Painted
You probably already have a lot of photos of your pet. Who can resist taking pictures when they’re being adorable? If you never had the chance to have anything more done while they were alive, you can use the photos to do it now. For example, you can choose your favorite images and have someone use them to paint a portrait. That’s not the only thing that artists can make from your photos either. You could have a mosaic made, as well as other artworks, and even have a replica plush animal made too.
Carry Them with You
If you would rather have something you can carry around with you, there are several ways you can do that too. One of the most special is having their ashes turned into a diamond, which you can then wear on a piece of jewelry. Read this post called Once a Dog, Forever a Diamond to find out how the process works. After having your pet cremated, the carbon from their ashes is what will become a diamond for you to wear. You could put it on a necklace, bracelet, key ring, and more. You will then be able to carry your beloved friend with you wherever you go.
Put Them on a Plaque or Stone
When a person dies, we usually give them a gravestone or perhaps a plaque to memorialize them. You can do the same with your pet so that there is a reminder of them either at home or in a public place. You could use a stone to have their name and an inscription engraved, which could be displayed in your garden, a park or a dedicated pet cemetery. Another idea is to have a plaque, which could be wooden or metal, perhaps. You could hang it or attach it to a wall, a bench or somewhere else that allows you and other people to enjoy it.
Plant a Tree
Planting a tree is a popular thing to do when a loved one dies. You can create new life from the loss of an old one. As the tree grows, you can watch something good come out of the death of your pet. It doesn’t have to be a tree if you don’t have space for one. It can be any other plant, from rosemary to petunias.
Losing your pet can be difficult to deal with, but doing something to remember them can help. Try one of these ideas to help you process your grief.
